Pure Clare

This is my painting of fan art for the anime/manga named Claymore by Norihiro Yagi. I portrayed Clare, the main protagonist of Claymore in a place where she is free from yoma (demons), free of bloodshed, and free from the sad life she had. Even her silver eyes have grown livelier, as this is the only place Clare is at peace with herself. She is a person who has always been too serious because there are too many things in life that she cannot let go of, but now we know that at least here, in her dreams, she will be happy. The water droplets and splashes are used to show the “pure”, and this is actually in contrast to the otherwise blood splashes; which are usually associated with claymore in the manga.

Techinal details:
Done in Adobe Photoshop CS 3, wacom tablet, W5514 X H2960 resolution. Reference from the anime and manga was used.

While people have advised not to do a fan art, it has always been my wish to do a proper fan art for a long time. I enjoy doing what I like and hoped my works will show more of what style I like, what anime I watch etc. I strongly believe these are all important because it makes up who I am. A simpler reason is I simply loved Claymore. That’s all

Frankly I had encountered countless of problems while creating this. I got carried away attempting to create a realistic combined with anime look, which was quite problematic for me. Luckily I get comments from my brother and friends and I learned too. I’m not sure if I get it right ornot, but I’ve done the best I could. Hope you’ll like it too. Comments and Critques are welcomed & do let me know of suggestions to improve my work

The Southern Lands

They’re the greatest, and the most powerful of all yoma (demons), Isley and Priscilla in their respective awaked state. They already had the power to simply dominate, or even destroy the world. Yet these two did nothing of the sort. They simply lay down quietly, choosing to enjoy their time together with each other in the southern lands which they claimed from the war years ago. But don’t worry; I’ve heard that their arch enemy, the claymores, have already started moving. So are my friends from the north; although they didn’t say anything, I know they’ve already secured precious and secret information of the past in our world. It won’t be long before these two sweats in their pants and run for their lives in the sky of chaos.

This is another painting of fanart for the anime/manga named Claymore by Norihiro Yagi. I loved the series and the design of the characters and yoma of Norihiro Yagi were so awesome. I'm simply a fan that wanted to bring it out nicely

I greatly enjoy my time creating this two and I hope you’ve liked it too. Done in Adobe Photoshop CS 3, wacom tablet, 6897 X 4173 resolution. Much reference from the anime and manga was used to make sure design of characters were in line.

Live on in spirit for the better future, do not give up! (Sichuan Earthquake Painting)

My Design Fusion Entry - To live on in spirit for the better future
*This was an entry i did for design fusion contest back in 20th june 2008 i did some minor adjustments after my entry.

When the Sichuan Earthquake happened nobody expected it. It had caused so such devastation to the place that was once very beautiful, and took away the lives of many. What the survivors can do now is to pick up theirselves, carry on with their lives and rebuild their homeland.Something fortunate at this midst of this crisis, lots of inspirational stories of different people have been born. Soldiers, doctors, policemen, firemen and volunteers, providing help to others have been reported broadly across the media.

It's really very heart-warming to hear all these news, as although something so terrible has happened, the rest of us are all doing their best to help as well. So I thought of myself as an artist at this point I should do something too. I decided to make an artwork tribute as for them

So there I start to come out with my story for design fusion. A deity normally shouldn’t interfere in mortal world affairs, but this particular flower fairy (peonies & plum blossom, China’s unofficial national flower) was so touched by the extra ordinary actions of different people in times of crisis, she decided to give a helping hand to the people affected by the Sichuan earthquake, blessing Sichuan with prosperity and progress for it to be rebuild, same time giving the people more hope to live on happier. So to do that She actually leaps out from the space that shes supposed to be in and enters the real world. I played around with the borders at the side with only her overlapping to achieve this result.

I hope to encourage people viewing my work to just have a lighter heart, never and don't think about politics ( i hate that) - just try to appreciate life more. I'm also not intending to go into a propaganda artwork or any sort at the start. Hope nobody is offended by my theme and that you'll liked it. I’ve have not painted a artwork so huge in 2 years already, main reason being I won’t have the time and another reason being that my old computer won’t be able to work efficiently. I've worked on this piece for about 30 days, started just a little while after I bought my new computer. Estimate 250hours of work

The whole artwork is digital painted in Adobe photoshop cs3 with my wacom tablet. Lots of reference used and original resolution is 9000 X 5625. Please enjoy. Comment and critiques are welcomed !

This is another quick sketch that i did. It comes right after i watch finish Hayao Miyazaki's Studio Ghibli anime film - Kiki's Delivery Service. It was very entertaining and heart-warming to watch. i can't believe its so nice even though its made in 1989. Hayao Miyazaki is really amazing..

Anyways, this piece was done in nearly 6 hours even though i meant it to be quick.. well i tried my best... and the chinese characters was inspired by some of friend's art but my caligraphy is not outstanding.

Quick Sketch - warrior

Lately I have decided to train another aspect of my drawing/painting skills by going back to drawing using my mechanical pencil, and also painting quick sketches, (also called speed painting i think).

Reason being very simple.. my roots are still not firm enough and i really need to build up some decent skills in conceptual sketches which i'm really lacking now.

So lately i've been looking at Feng Zhu and Jason Chan's dvd tutorials. After looking at how Jason Chan finished his quick sketch under 3 hours, I decided to try myself too. I had so much fun now i think I'll keep on doing these for quite a while. I set my time limit to 3 hours.. but i have a rough start so i only finished at 4 hours

Technical information:
Done in Adobe Photoshop CS 3, wacom tablet, 2104 X 3165 resolution. No reference.
